This article will provide you with everything you need to know for your first visit to the co-working space.
Before you arrive
- Book Your Space: You’ll need to book your space before arriving; you can do this by creating an account via our booking system here. Follow the steps in our FAQ to assist in making your first booking.
- Pack Essentials: Bring your laptop, charger, headphones, notebook, pen, and any other work essentials. Don’t forget your business cards if you have them.
On Arrival
- Where we are located: The Peak District Business Hub is located at Aldern House, Baslow Road, Bakewell DE45 1AE – it’s also the Headquarters of the Peak District National Park Authority. More information on how to find us can be found here.
- Parking: It’s free to park at Aldern House – simply turn up on your day of booking and find a space.
- Accessibility: Unfortunately, due to the historic nature of the building, there is no step free access to the Peak District Business Hub.
- Check-In: Upon arrival, please check in at the Peak District National Park Authority main reception, main reception, which is adjacent to the car park down a set of steps. Press the buzzer and reception will let you through the double doors. They will provide you with necessary information about the space, such as Wi-Fi details, seating arrangements, and available amenities.
- Collect your pass: The customer services team member will then provide you with a security pass that will give you access to the co-working room and allow you in and out of the main building. Please remember to return your pass at the end of the day to reception or the postbox on the reception doors.
Exploring the Space
- Take a Tour: On your first visit, a customer services member will take you on guided tour of the space. This will help you understand the layout, available facilities, and any rules or guidelines.
- Find a Spot: Choose a comfortable spot that suits your working style. The co-working space contains a central work desk that sits 6, or there is a high stool desk perfect for standing-up working plus other break-out spaces and sofas.
- Set Up Your Workspace: Arrange your workspace to be comfortable and conducive to productivity. Feel free to bring extra screens if you need them, there are plenty of power outlets on the main central desk.
Utilising the Amenities
- Explore Amenities: Take advantage of amenities of the Peak District Business Hub – there is a bookable meeting room, places to sit outside and plenty of breakout areas plus a noise cancelling seating booth.
- Questions during your session: If you have any questions, or require assistance during your co-working session, please go to the main reception desk and someone will be able to help.
- Take a Break: You can take a walk in the pretty gardens and grounds outside or eat lunch on the picnic benches. It’s only a 15 minute stroll into Bakewell, where there are lots of cafes and shops to enjoy.
Engage with the Community
- Introduce Yourself: Take the initiative to introduce yourself to others. This can lead to networking opportunities and make you feel more integrated into the community.
- Attend Events: The Peak District Business Hub comes with access to local networking events. The Federation of Small Businesses runs their monthly networking event at the Peak District Business Hub – it’s always free to attend. You can sign-up for alerts to these events HERE.
General Etiquette
- Respect Shared Spaces: Be mindful of noise levels, clean up after yourself, and respect the rules of shared spaces.
- Be Courteous: Treat others with respect and professionalism. A positive attitude goes a long way in fostering a supportive business community.
End of the Day
- Gather your things: Please take everything with you that you came with. Don’t worry – customer services will hold on to any lost property if you do leave something!
- Hand in your pass to reception: Please drop your security pass in at the main reception at the end of the day. If there is no one available at reception, please post your pass through the letterbox once you have scanned out of the building. Next time you visit, you’ll collect a new pass.
